Thin film CdTe solar panel systems are now established as the lowest cost/watt solar electricity generation solution in the market today. Thin film CdTe solar panels rely on a critical semiconductor feedstock material produced through the compounding of very high purity elemental Cadmium and Tellurium metals. Production of CdTe semiconductor feedstock has historically been technically challenging due to the difficulty in combining Cadmium and Tellurium, the need to maintain high purity levels and the potentially hazardous nature of Cadmium. Current commercial CdTe feedstock products are currently undoped and all provide similar conversion efficiencies. Redlen Technologies has revolutionized the processing methodology to overcome the key barriers in the production of CdTe feedstock for the Thin Film Solar Panel market

Historically, the production of CdTe had limited / small scale commercial application. Early production techniques such as Bridgman/Melt Growth were not designed for volume manufacturing now required for the CdTe thin film solar industry and relied on adaptations of existing processes. Redlen’s process is designed to provide safe, consistent, high purity, high volume CdTe feedstock economically.

Our high purity CdTe semiconductor feedstock product is offered in a variety of forms including powder, chunks or mechanically pressed into customer specified forms. Product purity is specified by GDMS or ICP-MS analysis and is generally 5N grade (see attached typical analysis). Product purity can be provided at higher or lower grades per customer requirements. We offer packaging in sealed bags, jars or in customer specified containers that are shipped in UN certified boxes or pails.
Our industry-leading CdTe compounding technology provides the capability for homogeneous incorporation of a wide range and concentration of dopants which may be used to enhance end product efficiency.
